Today was an interesting juxtaposition to yesterday. From the bare-bones two-room cabin that served as home to Herbert Hoover, today I saw the mansion that was William Howard Taft's boyhood home. Taft followed in the family tradition of practicing law, though he seemed to constantly be pulled into public service.

The house itself was interesting to tour, as throughout the house were displays covering his many appointments and offices. The period furnishings were elegant, but I found the history to be more interesting.

Taft finally achieved his lifetime desire late in life. No, not the Presidency, but rather an appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court after his term as President ended.
