My first visit to Arches National Park was in 1995 and it was blistering hot. This visit saw the car's thermometer reach 104F. It's a hot park in summer!

Has the park changed since that first visit? Indeed, a large chunk of the inside of one arch broke off and crashed on the ground beneath it, making for a wider arch.

Such is the process of nature in the park featuring 2,000 arches and other features of erosion. Spires and balanced rocks dot the landscape, all sculpted from the red rock found in the area.

Several trails allow visitors to get closer to many features, though I decided against that option given the temperature.
