In my original plans, this group was confined to Washington and Oregon, but now include northern California and a bit of Idaho.

Near Seattle, I'll visit San Juan Island NHP across Puget Sound, then Ebey's Landing NHR and Olympic National Park along the shore of the Sound.

Seattle is home to the Washington unit of Klondike Gold Rush NHP while North Cascade National Park, Ross Lake NRA and Lake Chelan NRA lie to the northeast. Further to the east is Lake Roosevelt NRA.

Turning south, I'll encounter Mount Rainier National Park and the Washington unit of Manhattan Project NHP. Just across the Idaho border is Nez Perce NHP recognizing the peoples who lived here.

Along the Washington-Oregon border are three historic sites, ending at the Pacific Ocean. John Day Fossil Beds NM is near the center of the state, while Crater Lake National Park and Oregon Caves NM are in the south.

Five sites are in northern California, including the tall trees of Redwood National Park along with other natural geological and recreation sites.
