I had visited Devils Tower with my daughter several years ago. We followed the base trail that goes completely around the tower near its base, though high enough for nice views of the countryside.

I had thoughts of taking that same hike this time, but the near 98F temperatures and the noise present from several hundred motorcycles convinced me to make this a rather short visit.

After a stop in the visitor center, we headed back down the entry road, stopping a few times to take some photos.

The tower is fascinating for its geological history, which led to its interesting shape. There are several other nearby outcroppings, but none as prominent as Devils Tower.
