This site was a last minute addition to this trip, an inadvertent omission simply because I had so little time to plan this first trip post-retirement.

Fortunately, one day earlier I had stopped at the offices of the Buckeye Trail Association to visit my friend Richard, cartographer for the organization. He pointed out my omission, and after a few minutes in Google Maps, I had my new routing.

The draw of this river is the whitewater rafting and canoeing, neither of which I was going to be doing on this day! There isn't even a Visitor's Center for the Rec Area, with one in the New River Gorge National Park serving both. I suspect this is the case for other Recreation Areas, Scenic Rivers, etc., where the main draw is the water.

Though I realized that there would be little here for me to enjoy, and only a few spots to get any photos (unless I rented a canoe), I intend to, at the very least, set foot in every NPS unit, get a photo by the sign, and get a few other pictures, and that is what I did here.
