The Bluestone River cuts through the southern West Virginia mountains, eventually emptying into the New River south of that river's famed gorge.
Like other scenic rivers that I have visited, there are few good access points to view the river, as it is intended to be seen from the water-side. I did follow very narrow, often gravel roads twisting through the beautiful West Virginia countryside to reach one such access. Along the way, I encounter more deer on the side of the road than I've ever seen at one time before. It was a foggy morning but there were still hints of great views along the way.
I found no large signs for this site, there is no visitor center and no famous unigrid brochure. The passport stamp is found in the New River Gorge National Park's Sandstone Visitor Center.
