This was the very first stop on my retirement tour, so only 422 remain. I had been here before, as in 2006, this was the very first stop on our family's three-week 10-park vacation.

Hoover is much maligned for his presidency, but his humanitarian work is what stands out. His greatest efforts were in post WWI Europe, where he helped prevent widescale starvation.

This site has his restored two-room home, school, and Quaker meeting house along with a reconstructed blacksmith shop. His presidential library and gravesite are here, too.

The weather was perfect, and I took a short walk on trails through the extensive grasslands adjoining the site.
