A very short distance from Fort Union Trading Post NHS lies the confluence of the Missouri and Yellowstone Rivers. We decided to stop by for a few photo ops.

There is a large interpretive center located here, run by the North Dakota State Historical Society. We were not interested in going in, as it had an entry fee, and we just wanted to see to rivers!

At first, it looked like the river bank was not accessible from there, but a short drive around landed us in a small campground with perfect views of the rivers. It certainly wasn't a major highlight of the trip. Rather, it was more of an "interesting" moment, seeing the rivers merge, knowing that this water we see in extreme northern North Dakota was destined for the Gulf of Mexico.

Then we moved on.
