Remains of a Pueblo structure sit next to the parking lot of the Visitor Center, but most of the lands making up this monument lie to the west, along the Colorado-Utah border.

I passed through some of that land on my way to Hovenweep National Monument. The views where I stopped overlooked some Pueblo remains situated alongside a cliff.

This National Monument falls under the BLM rather than the NPS due to prior (and ongoing) land usage. As a park ranger told me, the paperwork to transfer a unit between governing bodies is formidable!
