Group: 10

(Kentucky, southern Indiana, Ohio)

This group has not been visited yet.

This group roughly follows Interstate 75 through Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio, a route I've driven dozens of times between my former home in Ohio and my parents' home in Florida.

The sixteen sites making up this group offer a good variety, from history to scenery. Many groups have included homes of Presidents and this one is no exception, with two homes of Lincoln and one of Garfield, but as a twist, it also has a site dedicated to the First Ladies.

Where Group 11 included the site of the Wright Brothers' first flight, this group will commemorate their home and workshop, where they developed and further tested their flying machines.

History is reflected not only in battlefields from multiple wars, but in the Cumberland Gap, made famous by Daniel Boone, and a site honoring George Rogers Clark (of Lewis and Clark fame).

Two National Parks are included: one above ground (Cuyahoga) and one underground (Mammoth Cave). Finally, simple recreation is available at Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and Obed Wild and Scenic River.

Park units in this group

Click on any of the parks listed below to see the page specific to that park.

Park pages for unvisited sites include information about the unit and a link to the NPS website's page.

For sites that I have visited, the park page will have my comments about the site, photos and links to both the NPS official page and my blog entry for that park visit.

The interactive map to the right shows the location of each unit. You can zoom in and move around on the map. The rectangle icon in the top right will expand the map to full screen. Clicking on any unit in the map will open a small information window. The map and icons on it are based on the same information found in the Google Earth KML files, which you can download from the Home page.
