I’m on day four of my five-day “COVID quarantine” and have been working my way through a Star Wars movie marathon to pass the time. I’m feeling much better than just a few days ago. The sore throat is all but gone and the cough is still here but downgraded from bad to annoying. Otherwise, I’m feeling good and ready to be on the move.
I’ve talked with my friend about our planned trip and we’ve decided to try and take off this coming Tuesday, drive all afternoon Tuesday and all day Wednesday, to arrive where we would have been had we left on the original schedule. That has us going into Yellowstone the next morning. We will pick up the original plan on Thursday morning, enjoying our two scheduled days there, and then continue on with the rest of the trip until we get to what would have been our last park before heading home.
Instead, we’ll now turn north and head into North Dakota picking up three of the sites that we have missed this past week. We’ll end up getting home two days later than the original schedule but we’ll have visited 12 of the 15 planned sites.
The downside is that that leaves me three sites just sort of hanging out there in Montana that I’ll need to pick up at some point in the future, but I’m happy that we will apparently get in the majority of what we had planned and get to spend the time that we had hoped to spend.
If this new schedule goes as planned, I should have a first blog entry next Wednesday or Thursday from the road.
